Brexit
Is bealach 'de facto' ón Eoraip é gan teacht ar chomhaontú leis an AE
With only twent four days to go before the end of the UK’s transition, the pressure is mounting to reach a deal with the EU. Today (7 December) Luxembourg’s Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn expressed his frustration with the UK.
Asselborn met Boris Johnson when he was the UK’s Foreign Secretary and quoted Johnson’s comment that “the UK will leave the European Union, but not Europe”. Asselborn said that failure to reach an agreement would result in a “de facto” exit from Europe, because it would be the only European country that did not enjoy a trade deal with the EU.
Asselborn added that the EU’s proposition on the table is fair and that he hoped that Boris Johnson would keep to “what he promised”.
