Timisoara, Romania - Board of European Students of Technology (BEST) through its local group - BEST Timisoara organized the annual Presidents’ Meeting between 15th and 21st November. At the conference, the International Management, committee delegates and presidents of 94 Local BEST groups were present.
More than 180 international delegates were reunited in Timisoara in order to make decisions about external matters, such as improving their services provided to future engineers all over Europe, but also internal, such as establishing new collaborations with students’ organizations or expanding the organisation's borders by creating new local BEST groups in several countries.
The official opening took place at Timisoara National Theatre, where a number of officials that offered support to BEST gave speeches. Among them was prof. Quadrado, Vice-president of SEFI. After the speeches, the students were invited to the “Job and study opportunities” fair, held also at the Theatre. Later on, with the support of the Youth in Action programme of the European Union and the ”Politehnica” University of Timisoara, the future engineers participated in a series of training sessions and workshops on various topics, such as Change Management, Sustainability and Crisis Communications.
The second part of the event consisted of a 4 day conference at which all international delegates discussed issues regarding the improvement of services and opportunities provided to technical students all over Europe. One of them is the collaboration established with CFES, a Canadian students’ organization dedicated also to future engineers, through which European technology students will have the opportunity to participate in an international engineering competition across the Atlantic. Additionally, another important decision made was expanding the borders of the organization to new cities such as Trento and Prague.
